A section of the Main Street in Portlaoise will be temporarily closed in the coming weeks to facilitate works.

Laois County Council has served notice of its intention to temporarily close the Main Street in the town centre, from the Church Street junction to the Church Avenue junction.

The section of the street will close from Monday, August 10 to Thursday, August 13 between the hours of 7pm and 2.30am.

The council has advised that the road closure is necessary to facilitate gas connection works by Gas Networks Ireland.
