Speeding problem on N59 in west Mayo | Connaught Telegraph

SPEEDING is an issue on the N59 between Westport and Newport.
The speed limit should be reduced from 100kph, local area Councillor Johnny O'Malley has suggested.
The route isn't fit for travelling faster than 80kph but there is awful speed on it, he told a municipal meeting.
Councillor O'Malley said they had upgraded the road and now there are more accidents, and the reason is because of speed at all times of the day.
He suggested the speed van or gardaí be deployed as a deterrent.
