Donegal councillor elected to Sinn Féin Ard Comhairle - Donegal News

INISHOWEN Cllr Jack Murray has been elected to the Sinn Féin Ard Comhairle.

The Buncrana native was elected to his party’s national leadership at last night’s meeting of the Cúige in Mullingar.

Cllr Murray said he was “proud” to be elected and added that the appointment “means a great deal” to him.

“The Cúige is the party structure aligned to the 15 counties of the Midlands-North West constituency, and I’m honoured to have been chosen to represent members across that area,” he said.

“I want to sincerely thank everyone who supported me and placed their trust in me. It means a great deal.

“Our party is strongest when it is rooted in communities, listening to people, standing with them, and giving voice to their hopes, concerns and ambitions.”

Cllr Murray pledged to act as a voice for grassroot republicans from all across the Cúige.

“This is also about the bigger task ahead: building a fairer Ireland, advancing equality and opportunity, and moving with confidence towards Irish unity,” he added.

“There is huge work ahead, and I’m proud to play my part. Go raibh míle maith agaibh.”
