Two 15-year driving bans imposed by judge in Tullamore for Offaly motoring offences

TWO 15-year disqualifications from driving were imposed on a man with multiple previous convictions.

In addition to the driving bans, Arkadiusz Galecki (38), Clonshanna, Mountbolus was fined a total of €1,500 and given a six-month suspended sentence.

Mr Galecki pleaded guilty to driving without insurance at Lugamarla, Mountbolus and Sergeant Richard Thornton told Tullamore District Court he was disqualified at the time.

Sergeant Thornton said the man had 28 previous convictions and along with road traffic violations he had convictions for assault, breaches of the public order act and the cultivation of opium poppy.

Judge Andrew Cody was further told Mr Galecki had received a 15-year disqualification in 2028 for an insurance offence.

Defence counsel David Nugent , BL, admitted his client had a “chequered history” and responding to a query from Judge Cody about the ownership of the vehicle used, he said it belonged to Mr Galecki's uncle.

Mr Nugent added that the accused had been working until March 27 last and then lost his job but would be taking up another one in July.

Judge Cody imposed a fine of €1,000, with the six-month sentence, suspended for three years, for the insurance offence, and imposed a €500 fine for driving without a licence. Bans of 15 years were imposed for each offence.
