It’s estimated that there are almost 600 people living with some form of the condition in County Longford.
The number of those living Dementia is expected to double by 2050.
It's estimated that there are almost 600 people living with some form of the condition in County Longford.
Retailers and community activists in Ballymahon are coming together to discuss a plan to make it Longford's first official 'Dementia Friendly Town'.
The initiative is part of a HSE-led campaign called Dementia: Understand Together.
It's aimed at building dementia inclusive communities across Ireland.
Dan Dooner spoke to Pauline Lee from the HSE, Niall Dowler, Ballymahon Community Information Partnership, and Franco Brady, Assistant Manager at Hegarty's SuperValu, about what it takes to become a 'Dementia Friendly Town'.
