'Detailed' delivery programme on Mobility Corridor in Kildare released

Kildare County Council also said that an update on the project will be released over the coming months

The information was provided to councillors who attended the latest Celbridge-Leixlip Municipal District meeting, which took place on Friday, July 17 last.

The subject arose when Labour Party Cllr Rupert Heather motioned for KCC to ‘provide a detailed delivery programme for the Celbridge-Hazelhatch Mobility Corridor’.

According to Cllr Heather, he wanted this programme to include ‘design milestones, statutory approvals, procurement timetable, funding drawdown and anticipated construction commencement and completion dates’.

Cllr Heather also told KCC: “It is important that the community knows what is happening.”

In response to Cllr Heather’s motion, KCC said via the report it provided at the meeting: “Planning and the Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) for land acquisition is in place for this project along with funding following the recent Housing Infrastructure Investment Fund announcement.

“The next stage is to complete the detailed design for the scheme, and this is due to be completed by Quarter 1 of 2027.”

KCC added: “It is hoped to issue a tender for the construction of the scheme thereafter with a view to commencing works onsite in Q3 2027 with works to be completed in 2028.”

Furthermore, KCC assured Cllr Heather: “A more detailed delivery programme will be provided over the coming months once project timelines are confirmed.”

Following this, Fine Gael Cllr Declan Ryan told KCC that he had a question which was due to be submitted later on in the meeting that was similar to Cllr Heather’s motion.

He told KCC that he would accept its report in relation to his question, in order to save time.

Cllr Ryan’s question read as follows: “Can KCC inform members of the current status of the Celbridge-Hazelhatch Mobility Corridor and advise when it is expected that a decision on the planning application will be made by An Coimisiún Pleanála (ACP)?”

KCC issued the following reply to his query: “A decision was made by ACP on July 3 last approving the development and confirming the CPO.”
