Active travel measures for Ballymahon road roundabout | Westmeath Independent

Westmeath County Council is preparing a design to upgrade the roundabout at the Athlone Regional Sports Centre in Athlone.
The move is part of the council's plan to incorporate active travel (walking and cycling) infrastructure on the N55/R915 Ballymahon road. The non-statutory consultation process for the planned scheme is expected to get underway in the second quarter of this year following the publication of an updated design standard by Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII).
The update on the roundabout was given to Cllr Frankie Keena at the February meeting of Athlone Moate Muncipal District in response to his question seeking an update on the provision of a left-hand turning lane at the top of the Brawny Road as vehicles approach the Athlone Regional Sports Centre roundabout.
