CÉ GUR GEALLADH sa Bhuiséad a fógraíodh dhá mhí ó shin go mbeadh €2m sa bhreis á chur ar fáil d’Fhoras na Gaeilge, ní raibh aon chinnteacht ann go dtí an tseachtain seo go mbeadh teacht ag an institiúid teanga tras-teorainn a bunaíodh mar thoradh ar Chomhaontú Aoine an Chéasta ar an mhaoiniú bhreise.

Ach de bharr cinneadh ag cruinniú earnála na Comhairle Aireachta Thuaidh Theas a reáchtáladh i Múineachán Dé Chéadaoin, tá an cead sin tugtha faoi dheireadh. Ciallaíonn an cinneadh sin go mbeidh maoiniú de €18.26m ag Foras na Gaeilge le linn 2026.

Is é Foras na Gaeilge an institiúid tras teorainn a bunaíodh tar éis Chomahontú Aoine an Chéasta chun tacú le beartais ar son teanga thuaidh agus theas.

Eascraíonn an éiginnteacht ón socrú idir an Rialtas i mBaile Átha Cliath agus Feidhmeannas Thuaisceart Éireann maidir le maoiniú an Fhorais Teanga ina bhfuil dhá eagras ceangailte le chéile. Is iad sin Foras na Gaeilge agus The Boord o’Ulster Béarla na hAlban/Gniomhaireacht na hUltaise.

De réir na socruithe seo tugann an Rialtas ó dheas 75% den mhaoiniú d’Fhoras na Gaeilge agus 25% don Ghníomhaireacht Ultaise agus faigheann an t-eagras Ghaeilge 25% ón Fheidhmeannas ó thuaidh agus tagann 75% de mhaoiniú na hUltaise ó Stormont.

Tá an fhoirmle sin luaite sa reachtaíocht faoinar bunaíodh an Foras Teanga agus is minic gur chothaigh sé fadhbanna roimhe seo. Nuair a raibh na hinstitiúidí roinnte cumhachta ar fionraí roimhe seo, ní raibh cead ag an Rialtas ó dheas aon ardú a thabhairt don Fhoras Teanga mar go raibh siad reoite sa mhodh cothabhála.

Anuraidh, nuair a tháinig sé chun solais go raibh poll sa bhreis ar €800,000 i maoiniú an Fhorais le h-aghaidh tograí agus eagrais teanga de bharr go raibh ardú tagtha ar chostas tuarastail agus pinsin, dhiúltaigh an Aire Pobail ó thuaidh, Gordon Lyons ón DUP, cead a thabhairt agus chiallaigh sin go raibh gá le hidirbheartaíocht idir an dá Aire chun socrú sealadach a dhéanamh.

Tá éileamh déanta ag Conradh na Gaeilge ar leasú ar shocruithe maoinithe d’earnáil na Gaeilge mar gheall ar an gceist seo.

Tar éis an chruinniú ar an gcampas síochána i Múineacháin, d’eisigh Dara Calleary, an tAire Forbartha Tuaithe, Pobail agus Gaeltachta raiteas ag cur fáilte roimh an gcinneadh a deineadh ag an gcruinniú.

“Tabharfaidh sé seo ar fad cinnteacht don dá áisíneacht, agus do na heagraíochtaí agus grúpaí pobail ar fud an oileáin a bhaineann tairbhe as na scéimeanna tacaíochta agus maoinithe a chuireann siad ar fáil dóibh.”

Ag an gcruinniú CATT, socraíodh glacadh le pleananna gnó Fhoras na Gaeilge agus an Ghníomhaireacht Ultaise agus aontaíodh go mbeadh maoiniú iomlán de €20m ar fáil don dá áisíneacht.

San áireamh sa mhéid sin bheadh €2m sa bhreis ar fáil d’Fhoras na Gaeilge le h-aghaidh “cláir agus gníomhaíochtaí”.

Fógraíodh freisin go mbeadh ardú ar mhaoiniú Chlár na Leabhar Gaeilge suas go €2milliún, an méid is mó riamh.
