A DRIVER whose vehicle was seized last September was banned from driving last week after he failed to appear in court having been summonsed for having no insurance.

Majed Mahmoud Ahmad Hussein (24), The White House, Castle Street, Roscrea, was convicted in his absence at Tullamore District Court of driving without insurance at Carraig Cluain, Srah, Tullamore on September 24 last year.

Garda Andrew Barron told the court that the vehicle was seized and no documents were subsequently produced. The driver had no previous convictions.

Judge Andrew Cody imposed a fine of €750 and a two-year disqualification from driving.
