A book launch and the unveiling of a renovated monument were celebrated at Clogher Bridge.

Organised by the community group, Clogher Le Chéile, as part of Heritage Week, the Clogher Monument was unveiled with a new entrance, extended stonework, improved drainage, cleaning and conservation.

Two publications were launched: ‘In loving memory’ features memorial inscriptions and funeral records at St Agatha’s Graveyard in Clar, from 2021 to 2024. The other publication was ‘A Glimpse into Our Past', which compares data from the 1901, 1911, and 1926 censuses for the five townlands that surround Clogher.

“The event was very well attended with representations from Donegal County Council, the Heritage Council and Energia,” Rosemary Myers, Chairperson at Clogher Le Cheile, said. “Our slogan was recognising history, heritage and community.”

Both publications are for sale and can be purchased from any committee member at Clogher Le Chéile. The renovations and publications recognised funding received from the Energia Community Fund and the Creative Ireland Programme.
