New Mayor and Deputy Mayor elected in this Kildare MD

The new Mayor (Cathaoirleach) and Deputy Mayor (leas Cathaoirleach) for the Celbridge-Leixlip Municipal District (MD) have been elected today.

The appointments were decided at the MD’s annual meeting, which took place inside Áras Chill Dara this morning.

At the beginning of this meeting, the outgoing Mayor of the MD, Labour Party Cllr Rupert Heather, expressed gratitude to his colleagues, KCC officials and member of the press for their assistance to him during his time in the role.

Fianna Fáil Cllr Bernard Caldwell briefly paid tribute to Cllr Heather and thanked him for his service.

Following this, Cllr Caldwell nominated his party colleague, Cllr David Trost, to be the new Mayor of the MD.

As no other nominations were proposed, Cllr Trost was appointed as the new Mayor of the MD.

Immediately after this appointment took place, Fine Gael Cllr Paul Brooks nominated Cllr Ryan to be the new Deputy Mayor of the MD.

Once again, as no other nominations were proposed, Cllr Ryan was appointed to as the new Deputy Mayor of the MD.
