Ongoing roadworks in Ballybofey have led to diversions and a temporary bus stop closure in the town.

The €4.1 million works have progressed to zone two and are now on Donegal Street from Lidl to the bank corner. Diversions are in place via Glenfin Street and Cappry.

Sinn Féin councillor Dakota Nic Mheanman has confirmed that the Bus Éireann stop at the Balor Theatre is closed and has been moved to Aldi on Chestnut Road.

The works are part of the Major Safety and Road Reconstruction Works for Stranorlar and Ballybofey. This involves road reconstruction and resurfacing, with new traffic calming measures and raised pedestrian crossing points to improve safety for all road users.

The first phase of safety improvements and road reconstruction is expected to be substantially complete by the end of November. Work will then resume in the new year and is expected to be completed by spring 2027.
