A Donegal man, charged with the murder of Ardara businessman Stephen McCahill, is to be sent forward for trial to the Central Criminal Court in Dublin

Michael Maloney (32) of Loughros Point, Ardara appeared before Letterkenny District Court this morning via video link from Castlerea Prison.

He is charged with murdering Stephen McCahill at Beagh, Ardara, on Monday, January 5.

The charge is Contrary to Common Law and as provided for by Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1964.

During today’s hearing, Judge Emile Daly remanded Maloney in custody for four weeks to allow for the preparation of a Book of Evidence.
