Laois man remanded in custody on charge of murdering wife - Courts - Laois Nationalist
THE case of a man accused of murdering his wife in Portlaoise is to be heard at the Central Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin.
Garda Sgt Jason Hughes told last week’s sitting of Portlaoise District Court that the director of public prosecutions (DPP) had directed that the accused be sent forward on one count of murder, on a guilty plea, if it so arises, and to be prosecuted on indictment.
Eugen Constantin (72), 25 Church Street, Portlaoise is charged with the murder of his wife Adina Raluca Constantin at their address on Sunday 5 July.
Sgt Hughes requested the state be given 42 days in which to present the accused with the book of evidence and that he be further remanded in custody with consent to bail.
Mr Constantin’s solicitor Philip Meagher said that his client had already been approved bail by the High Court.
Judge Andrew Gubbins remanded Mr Constantin in custody with consent to bail to 9 November for the service of a book of evidence.
